Hello, I am Michel Raby
I’ve always enjoyed drawing or doodling as long as I can remember. In high school, I took art classes through to grade 12. My art teacher encouraged me to develop my love of painting.
After graduation, I moved to Thunder Bay and continued to paint in my spare time. I did some commission work and took some evening art classes at Hammarskjold High school to develop more skills.
In 2017, thanks to my daughter, I had the opportunity to explore painting with Acrylics while helping her with an art project for school. Curious, later that year, I took a brief introductory course on painting with acrylics at The Painted Turtle in Thunder Bay. The experience proved to be very exciting and gave me a way to find a creative outlet once again.
Landscape painting has always been a passion of mine. The Acrylic medium has enabled me to experiment and play and grow as an artist. As I paint, I get to explore in detail, the colours and textures that bring a painting to life. It lets me appreciate what a beautiful place we live in and it gives me the luxury of exploring the hidden treasures of our region.
Painting has rekindled my passion for learning and exploring our surrounding with an eye to the hidden beauty that surrounds us.
As with art or life, learning never ends, it's all about the journey.

Here starts the journey of another painting. The brutal first steps of creation. Like every artist ever, this painting will go though many iterations before it looks like the image in my head.
My daughter Katie starts her journey, she to will be adding her creations to the website. I look forward to the development process she will go though. At present she is helping me to develop this site.
